Unbox the printer and remove all the packing materials like stickers and tapes. Open the scanner lid and remove the packing materials inside the lid.Recycle all the packing materials. Switch on the printer after connecting the power cords in the rear of printer and in an electrical outlet. Set your preferences according to your wish in the control panel.

Insert a stack of paper and make it to slide in the paper width guides until they lightly rest against the edges of the paper. Check whether the tray is locked otherwise paper jam will occur. The ink cartridge should be inserted by opening the cartridge access door. Touch Change Ink if your want to view the animation for installing new cartridges. Carefully remove the cartridges by touching only the black plastic on the cartridge. Remove the protective tape by pulling orange tab. Insert the tri-color cartridge in the left slot and black cartridge in the right slot. Close the cartridge access door and press Ok. If the alignment page does not print properly check whether the plain white paper is loaded. Touch Setup on the control panel and click Printer Maintenance and click Align Printer. Follow the on-screen prompts and finish the process. Touch OK and recycle the alignment page. Install the printer software by visiting the website http://123.hp.com/ENVY7640 and download the most latest version of your printer software. You can also use the installation CD that comes along with your printer

Scanning Using Webscan

  1. Initially remove the printer from the box
  2. Remove all the packing materials that are used to wrap the printer
  3. The packing materials include stickers and tapes.
  4. Check for the packing materials both inside and outside the printer.
  5. Once the packing materials are removed, they should be recycled.

Control Panel Settings

  1. The power cord with two ends is connected to the rear of the printer and an electrical outlet.

HP Envy 7640 -Installing The Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door
  2. The DOOR OPEN screen appears in the control panel with a message
  3. In the bottom right corner of the touch screen, a Change Ink option might appear which demonstrates installing of new cartridges.
  4. This is optional
  5. Remove one cartridge from the package by touching only the black plastic on the cartridge.
  6. Pull the orange tab to remove the protective tape.
  7. With a slightly upward angle, slide the new cartridge into an empty slot and push the cartridge.
  8. The tri-color cartridge should be inserted in the left slot and black color cartridge in right slot.
  9. The same steps can be used for changing new cartridges.
  10. Close the cartridge access door.
  11. After closing the door, the printer returns to the home screen.
  12. To calibrate and align cartridges, the printer needs some time.
  13. After the alignment is complete, the printer prints the alignment page
  14. If the alignment is not proper, follow the below steps for correct alignment
    • Check whether the white paper is properly loaded in the tray.
    • Touch Setup on the printer control panel
    • Touch Printer Maintenance, and then touch Align Printer.
    • Follow the instructions on the control panel
    • Touch OK
